I'm hoping its not this try swapping the engine management box over this routes a lot of the ignition and other functions.
Check all the connectors for water tightness Could be that it has got wet and shorted a pin or 2? You can spray the cable (after drying the pins) with a sealant spray used for HT leads
Leaves a clear coat.Is sold as "Clear-Cote" ignition spray in the UK
Put an extra bit of insulating tape on if the wires can be seen, and there is evidence of the loom covering being pulled?
Now see if it works? There might also be a small relay between this box and the fusebox? which may act as a fuse?(just guessing?

Should you have to replace...
Rule 1 Don't go to a dealer if you want a Shock

The prices of these boxes are a real ...HOW MUCH!!!??
You are better of going to a car breakers or sourcing off a "Find a car part" phone line which puts your wants on a database and a breaker will ring you with a match and a price much lower than a dealers quote(It's a premium phone call)I found a low mileage Motorcycle engine over 250 miles from home this way and they loaded it onto a Parcel carriers van and it was delivered to my door(all part of the service)

I blew up the original engine by not warming it up properly when late for work and exceeding the speed limit "slightly "(doing 90 mph in a 40 mph zone!!)
