I have a 72 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. One of the tail lights keeps shorting out. I know that part of the reason is the lightbulb fits loosely in the socket. The socket is molded into the housing so replacing the socket isn't really an option. The each contact is connected to a wire - how do I make the contact touch the bulb and not the other wire?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry this has taken so long to answer.

These types of repairs are very hard without seeing the problems. There should be a spring in the contact base that locks the bulb in place.

Check around your area to see if anyone does auto restoration. They would be in a better position to advise you.
