Dumb blonde added 1/2 quart of oil to dipstick instead of engine oil. Will I have a problem with this or will everything be ok. Checked dipstick again and it shows the pan is full, not to much oil. Could any problems arise? Help............................

Welcome to the Pool Lana8
If the level is above the high mark on the dipstick you'll need to drain some off (need a Kind gentleman to go underneath the engine with a drain can)
Worst case scenario? If you risk driving with it far too high your vehicle will lay down a Peasouper of a Smoke screen Red Face

You mean you added the oil through the teeny-weeny hole where the dipstick goes? I'm not an automotive expert, but I believe that would get the oil where it needs to go. But how the devil did you accomplish it?

Oil is added after removing the cap on the top of the engine Though there was the odd engine which had a combined filler dipstick so it's not that far fetched Roll Eyes

bedstor, Professor: If either or both of you understand the above question, I wish you would explain it to me. "1/2 quart of oil Instead of engine oil??and TO the dipstick." And, Lana, if you understand the situation and/or problem as solved. Congratulations and Welcome to AP. Wink

SmileThanks to all. Let the car sit over night and everything was fine when I drove to work. No smoking. Did leave a few drops on the cement though. Used a long funnel that fit down over the dipstick just fine and added the oil. Won't forget this experience. Thanks for the warm welcome.....................

You did Ok I'd be doing something similar If I didn't have the hand book for the car and the filler was hidden
I used to fix cars and motorcycles and some jobs I'd have to take a guess on how to tackle them Roll Eyes

Clever for a dumb blonde Wink The dipstick channels the poured liquid, much like a glass stirring rod in chemistry lab, while guiding and anchoring the funnel. Now try filling the gas tank using an eyedropper. Big Grin
