My car radio won't work but my CD player is fine so I know it's not the speakers. I don't know much about cars so what could cause this? No sound comes out when the radio is on - maybe some light static when I turn the volume all the way up. Is this easily fixable? How much will it cost?
While this is hard for me to check via the internet, it sounds like you antenna connection. The fact that you hear static indicates that you are not getting a signal.
Not knowing the car, or you abilities, I think you have it check at shop.
The antenna plugs in to the back of the radio and goes to the antenna. On some, there is a connection at the antennas base also.
While not likely, the wire could have been cut or rubbed through shorting it out.
I am not ruling out that there may be a problem with the radio, but there is no way you can check that. At the cost of radios vs repairs, you are better off getting a new radio.
