I'm in the process of looking for a smaller used SUV such as the Toyota Rav or the Hyundai Tucson. Does anyone have any advice of specifics I should be looking for in these types of vehicles? Does anyone here own a smaller SUV and have any recommedations or advice on what to avoid? It's VERY important that whatever I choose has good gas mileage (preferably between 24-26 MPG).

I own and enjoy very much my Kia Sportage. It runs with reasonable gas mileage and opens the trunck flush and flat to quite a low flush level.
