I have an "Auto-Mate" car alarm and have lost the instructions on how to disarm it. It's a 2 button remote, # 1 locks and unlocks but I can't figure out what #2 does.
Can anyone help me on how to disarm and reset this particular make of car alarm?

Thanks

Paul

Usually to disarm and/or reset a car alarm, you simply disconnect the power to it for a few minutes, and then rehook it (or leave it disconnected to disarm it.) You typically need to be pressing the Lock/Unlock button when you reconnect the power to reset the system to recognize your key-fob.

Most car alarm systems have one button on the fob to lock/unlock the car, and a second as a "panic" button. If your neighbors aren't easily alarmed (no pun intended), you might try just holding down the second button for a few seconds and see if it sets off the alarm. Otherwise, it may actually do nothing. (Our car has automatic locks, a panic button, and remote start, but no alarm. However, the key fobs have a button for setting and disabling an alarm, because the manufacturer makes a general fob that will fit everything you can put in the car, not specific ones for each system.)

I couldn't find your specific kind of alarm online but you might call your local car parts stores (such as Parts America or Napa) and see if they can tell you.

Good luck!

On my two button fob, the left button marked I locks and unlocks the door, the right button marked II opens the trunk. The trunk button requires that you hold it down for about 5 seconds before the trunk pops open. The door lock buttons work instantly.

Hello,

I am new here.

I have a Sidewinder car alarm. When the alarm is armed the red light flashes on the dash. Today, the light went on, solid after i turned off the car, it never does that. I got out, closed the door and clicked to arm it. The light was still on solid. I then opened up the door to see if it was armed, no it was not.

I guess my question or need is to find out if there is something i can do to arm it again or just stress out over the New Year holiday till the 800# people are open again at Sidewinder.

Ugh!

Thanks in advance for your help.
