Bit of a specialist question
So here goes
My brother brought a new tyre for his motorcycle the other day it was the correct size.
But at the end of the size there was a different letter to the one in the Handbook
In this case it was an "N" in the Handbook it said "L" is this a harder or softer compound reference letter ?Confused And is there a list online somewhere?

Could be the "speed capability"; look here:

at the very bottom of the page

although "L" isn't on that chart, hmm...

Thanks Decal
That is the info I wanted Smile
They used to put the maximum speed rating in plain English on the Tyre wall but they have gone over to this alphabetic rating recently with no help as to choice Frown
Still see car tyres sold with the old VR ratings (but they are imports or old stock)
True story... There was a consignment of cheap tyres sold in the 70's ,Came from Czechoslovakia.
They wore out or disintegrated within a very short time, also some blowouts Eek And upon inspection an expert spotted that the speed rating was for a trailer of 30 MPH MAX!Eek And the public was unaware of this..thinking "cheap tyres, need something "legal" to keep the police happy" And ended up with expensive repair bills in some cases Mad
