I have a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix, and something happened to my climate control panel. I had the a/c on yesterday, and no matter what position I put the control on, whether it was on feet, or face or windshield, the air only came out the windshield part. Is this a vacuum system?? What could be the problem, and what parts would I have to get to repair the climate control?? Thanks in advance. UJAY--------

Yes, I am 99% sure that it is a vacuum controled vacuum system. The default position is defrosters, or as you say, the windsheild.

I would check all the hoses for the Climate Control system. Starting under the hood where the engine heat dries out the rubber.

May be a hose just popped off. It happen to me when I was working under the dash and knocked the main vac. hose off the control box.

You might also want to check those plastic junction blocks. They also get brittle and crack from vibration.

One way to check for vacuum leaks is to get a can of ether and spray it around the vacuum hoses. When the idle speeds up you are near the leak.

Good luck.

Hey great idea TC. Please, just be careful as ether is extreamly flamable.
