I've not used it but have read about it in a couple of auto enthusiast magazines. It worked and was good for about the same distance as a gallon of gasoline. By itself it is not flammable. It must be mixed with whatever small amount of fuel is left in the tank to make it work. It's a little expensive, but much less than a service call.

As far as I know it is still on the market.

I have NOT ersonally used it before but I DO carry a jug of it in my car. Apparently you have to pour this 'stuff' in while the engine is still hot for it to work properly.... like I said, I've never tried it yet but....
cool

Something that you may want to consider about this kind of thing. This material has a tremendous amount of alcohol in it. Regular pump gas does as well. High alcohol content is very hard on fuel injectors. During operation the fuel flows over the windings of the solenoid that opens and closes the tiny poppet valve in the tip of the injector. These windings are insulated with a coating that can be attacked and eaten away by high concentrations of alcohol, which changes their resistance and in turn will cause failure. The newer fuel injectors are more resistant to this type of failure, however it still happens very often. Please don't misunderstand, I am not saying that a single use of this product will cause injector failure. What I am saying is that your fuel system sees a high degree of alcohol in everyday use and there is no sense in making matters worse. I guess if you think about it there is no excuse for running out of fuel except in the case of a gauge failure. In which case the price of a tow, probably less than $100.00 is far less expensive than replacing even one fuel injector. Depending upon the type of vehicle injectors start about $140.00 each plus a couple of hours of labor, and each cylinder has one injector. So multiply times 4 or 6 and you can see that the bill can become substantial in a big hurry. I usually set my trip counter when I put fuel in and I have a pretty good idea how far I can go on a given amount of fuel. So if there ever is a problem with the gauge I still have an idea of how much fuel is in the tank. It is just not worth using products such as this.

its probably better just to carry one of those red gas conatiners with gas in it, in your trunk with you.

I was thinking more of an empty one so u can go and fill it up Tee,

though if you did want to carry one that has gas in it already a full one is much safer than a half empty one, because in the half empty one there is air in the bottle too, with oxygen, and static electricity could cause a spark and ignite the gas/air mix, and then tee: booom,

that is why the big trucks carrying gas have a rubber strip going from the container and down to the ground, so that any static electricity is neutralized and the tanker does not explode.

and if you were carrying one with gas in it, would it be a good idea to put some oil in it too?
that way if you happened to run out of oil at the same time as gas it could help you get to someplace to fix it. or would that not work?

with gas in it. And yeah, I understand the science of a full container, static, etc.

The oil in the gas thing might provide a little lubrication to the cylinder walls but it would do nothing for the crankshaft and valve train. Ineffective, I'm afraid. Besides, anyone that would allow their vehicle to get that low on oil deserves a huge repair bill.

yeah i know, but i meant to say : TO put gas in, instead of With gas in it, smile

and i agree that someone who cant keep track of their oil should not be drivin on the road too.

and i was sure that YOU knew about the static electricity thing, it was more a comment for the education of the general public.

anyways, if You DID carry around a container full of gas, how likely would it be to ignite, how often does it happen?

I want to know what kind of a moron calls for a tow when they run out of gas. It is not a major thing. Just have a friend bring you a few gallons of gas, jeesh!
