OK...some guy behind me decided that he didn't want to stop at the yellow light as the car in front of me and I did...so he pulled out quickly to go by me and through the red light.
In doing so, he took out my side (drivers) mirror (and booked through the red light and beyond, so I didn't get his plate or info). My Jeep is less than a month old Anyway...it appears that the whole unit (electrical mechanics, etc.) are all intact.
Question is - - can they replace JUST the mirror or will I end up having to replace the entire unit? Obviously the whole unit will be way more expensive (heated...electric).
I have an appointment for next week, but I don't know what they'll be doing, will stop by someday this week to see.
Knowing how auto manuufacturers work, I'll bet you have to replace the whole thing. It would supprise me if you only had to replace the mirror.
Before you buy, try a body shop. Ask them if they can get a used one and how much to replace it. A lot of these units are used from one model year to the next and I'll also bet they can be a lot cheaper. They probably have to replace a lot of them.
I don't think dealers a aloud to use used parts.
PS, be sides, as we say in racing "What's behind us does not matter."

Great suggestion Dodge... As Its a Newish vehicle, the wreckers that deal with Insurance write-offs are the best places to look for something like this (Sometimes they stock job lots of parts like these)
