My son's car has a cracked exhaust manifold (aluminum, I think). Can he use an epoxy for a temporary "quick-fix", until he replaces it with a new manifold ? If so what kind of epoxy ?

Yes, he should take the manifold off and clean it thoroughly. JB Weld is a superior product. I glued the flywheel on my oawn mower back together with it 10 years ago. I still use the mower regularly.
