1. This is most assuredly as jackal. "Day of the Jackal" was the story of an assassin whose assignment was to kill Charles de Gaulle.

I am in more of a quandry over the biscuits, as they likely have a UK context.

3. Could this possibly be "Melba Toast?" In their round form in the USA they are sold as Melba Rounds. My other guess would be Party Rings.
