A. Grover Cleveland was the first U.S. president film star. In 1895, Alexander Black came to Washington, D.C., and asked the president to appear in A Capital Courtship. Cleveland agreed to be filmed while signing a bill into law. A Capital Courtship was a huge hit on the Lyceum circuit.

The Internet Public Library says exactly what Mozart does. Cleveland was in a movie. The film had a plot, namely, a courtship between a young man and a woman. Why do you stress the word Movie ? The film was a movie by the standard definition. The term was "photoplay" then, but it was still a movie. Actually, Cleveland appeared in at least one other film after that one. If you have one earlier, please share it, with, of course, a source.

I stressed movie because that was how the initital trivia question was sent to me. And I meant movie and not documentary which is what I thought "A Capital Courtship" was.

Apparently my daily trivia question sent to my pager is incorrect. The answer listed was Theodore Roosevelt. One thing is for sure - he certainly had more movies than Cleveland!

Roosevelt's movies

Your pager is your source? Boy, did you get a wrong number there. Even McKinley was in movies before Roosevelt.
