This is a 3 part question..I hope that's OK..

In an oscar winning movie, one of the characters said,

"A woman should never learn to sew, and if she can she shouldn't admit to it."

My question is: What is the name of the movie? and
Why is the title of the movie ironic? and

what sitcom lampooned it?

This is in the wrong place so feel free to move it to entertainment trivia Dorian.

I cant do that myself or edit it cos I cant edit my own question it seems. Frown
The title should more correctly have been :"In What Movie..?" and as I say, posted under movie trivia. Thanks. Smile

The title of the movie is ironic because the patient isn't in fact English but Hungarian,Count Laszlo de Almásy.
I think the sitcom that lampooned it was Seinfeld.

Well done Viv..another of my all time favourite films here!
The sewing quote came from the character, Katharine Clifton, played by Kristin Scott Thomas in the movie, The English Patient

The title of the movie was ironic because although it was assumed he was English, Almaséy, was in fact, Hungarian.

Yes, and Seinfeld lampooned the movie in an episode where Elaine ridicules the film.
