This late silent screen star died by suicide - stabbing himself multiple times with a pair of gold scissors. He had posed for August Rodin, co-starred with Sarah Bernhardt, been married to and divorced by four different women. The first being the sculptress grand-daughter of former Belgian Premier, the second being a star of opera and film. His third was also an actress and his fourth was a Ziegfeld Follies dancer.

This is inaccurate, but a very interesting gentleman when I read up on him.

His autobiography, Women Have Been Kind (to which title reviewer Dorothy Parker suggested appending "of Dumb"), is at best unreliable. It contains many false claims, one of which is that he posed for Rodin's sculpture, Eternal Spring.

You have to realize that he's been around long enough that there were only a dozen or so people on Earth when he was born !

You guys are good! But even though he was a terrible liar,Sherasi, I think he actually did do some posing for Rodin. His first wife, Jeanne de Brouckere was a sculpture student under Rodin. Of course he would have been a child when Rodin finished the Eternal Spring sculpture. There was a daughter from that marriage. No 2 was Geraldine Farrar, no childre. Third wife was Isabelle Dilworth; stage name Nina Romano. They had a son. Fourth and final wife: Eva Casanova.

He and my grandmother were first cousins; I don't know what that makes me. Third cousin ? First cousin twice removed ? Confused
