Who was the first male in history to receive two acting Oscar nominations in the same year for two different movies?

I was originally going to just post the answer, which I felt sure of as Jamie Fox in "Ray" and "Collateral." So glad I checked, because as it turns out Fox was the second actor to get two nominations in the same year, although he was the first African American.

The first actor was Al Pacino - one Supporting Actor nomination for "Glengarry Glen Ross" and one Leading Actor nomination for "Scent of a Woman".

Of the four films, I have to add that Collateral was my personal favourite.
