I can only answer part of the question,that is that it was Micky Dolenz who later went on to be in the Monkees.Joey the Clown was played by Noah Beery,who also went on to play someones mentor....?

I remember it was on TV like in the late '50's or early'60's.

Mickey Dolenz then went by "Mickey Braddock."

And Noah Beery played "Rocky Rockford," mentor to James Garner's title character in "The Rockford Files."

Good memories ! Circus Boy had its first run in the US from 1956 through 1958.

Thanks DG - unfortunately sonnet couldn't participate 'cuz her, then, 3 - 4 year old brain didn't know it would be important later in life. Mickey Dolenz, who knew? I loved the Monkees! I didn't remember much of the show, I just remembered it was my favorite.
