I will make a single correction to this trivia. "Asperger's" is actually not a disease it is a "Syndrome". In this case, the cause of Aspergers and similar disorders such as Autism, ADHD, ADD, Tourettes Syndrome, etc is not caused by a single vector that can be identified (for the most part). quote: A disease is a health condition with a clearly identifiable cause, while a syndrome is a set of symptoms or conditions that occur together and suggest the presence of a certain disease or an increased chance of developing the disease.
For example, Metabolic syndrome indicates a set of symptoms that creates a high risk of two health problems; heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Another example is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome which is a situation that requires two out of three sets of conditions and is not regarded as a disease in itself. It is rather a starting point for finding the underlying cause of the symptoms and problems.
So a syndrome is a group of symptoms or conditions and a disease is an established entity.
