It's a Knockout went by the international name "Jeux sans frontier". Can't believe how much I used to enjoy this as a kid. Eddie Waring and Stuart Hall presented it if I remember correctly. AS for the version with the 'Royal Family',I cringe just thinking about it ! Viv
"Jeux sans frontieres" [with an accent grave] or "It's a Knockout". The British teams were, er, British viz. enthusiastic amateurs who'd neither trained nor practised but thought it was 'a good laugh'.They all looked as though they'd just piled out of the pub. They finished last every week. The Germans always won because they were, er , German viz. magnificent physical specimens who'd got every game and routine honed to the last millimetre, second and kilo and who took the whole thing very seriously.
Stuart Hall just laughed loudly and manically throughout. He is still around. He does match summaries of soccer games on BBC Radio. He hasn't changed.
