You are so mean Viv. Not only do I know the answer, but my yearning for this show has now returned.
I had forgotten all about it, but it was highlight of the viewing year, growing up in England. The Morcambe and Wise Christmas Special or The Last Night of the Proms didn't even come close.

How could you do this to me!
Oh well, I know I can tell you it is way better than 24 hour snooker (Fred) or rainy Saturday afternoon football (Bedstor).
What it lacks in artistic merit, it more than makes up for in good old fashioned jingoistic enthusiasm.

I have to run now, and see if I can get a standby flight. Now if I leave Toronto on the Friday night flight..... land at Heathrow Saturday morning, I'll have time to stop at the off licence, pick up a bottle of vino and a bag of Walkers crisps, and maybe make it to my parents' place just in time for the show Big Grin

11 p.m., Bedstor? You jest. It's just finished, at gone 1 a.m. And it was brilliant ! Higgins was leading 12 frames to 4 overnight but Selby staged a great comeback, getting to 13-12 before the greater experience of the former world champion told and got him to the winning score of 18 to 14. Selby is only 23 and had to play qualifying matches to play in the event, such was his low ranking. He seems certain to be a great player in the future, mainly because he has the temperament to play well under pressure.

PS I think that Viv is referring to the Eurovision Song Contest Wink
This annual competition between singers and bands from the various members of Eurovision, which oddly, includes very un-European, Israel, is taken very seriously by all competing nations except Britain. British television coverage is hosted by Sir Terry Wogan, a humorous Irishman (known as 'Tel')who makes irreverent fun of all the entries (including Britain's), which is fairly easy for a laconic, irreverent Irishman, to do (you'd know if you ever viewed just how bad the songs and the costumes are Big Grin ).
This year the final is in Helsinki on May the 12th

He's Sir Terry, yet Irish, because he was born in Limerick at a date which entitles him to be regarded as a British citizen when it comes to knighthood. He was knighted a few years ago.

Bedstor darling, I will be forever in your debt if you can get me that link. Who knows... perhaps we could even get over the language barrier?

btw..the Eurovision Song Contest is the best show on British TV. Where would Abba have been without it?
