When the Wicked Witch of the West sends the flying monkeys to capture Dorothy and Toto, she adds, "I've sent a little bug on ahead to make it eaasy.." what bug did she refer to?

Hint: It's actually not in the movie, and it's not a bug, per say.

Easy Peasy.....she sent an insect ahead to bite them to send them in a frenzy doing the jitterbug dance so they would be worn out and could be captured.

The actual quote is "I've sent a little insect on ahead to take the fight out of them!"

That scene was later edited because the movie was too long and thoughts were that such a light-hearted dance scene took away from the drama behind the movie. Although that scene is no longer in the movie, there were shots of it captured on amature filmings by crew-members.
