I have Hoyle card games 2003 on my computer how do I copy this game to a CD so I can put it in another computer is this possible.

I tried going to my C drive and copying it that way and when I tried to install it in another computer it says to install you must have the original CD. I thought if I have the games in my computer I could copy and put it in another computer with no problem. Could you explain how come I cannot do this.

In order to install most programs, you must have an "Install Program" which is usually included on the original disk. This is because many of the programs files are stored in different locations and many files are "shared" with other programs. Dynamic Link Library (.dll) files generally need to be registered in order to function correctly. This is accomplished by the installer program.

Once in a while you will see a program that is completely self contained within an "executable" (.exe) program file. With these, you can just copy it to a removable media (like a CDR) and move it to another computer.

How did you get your original Hoyle games? Were they included on your system when you bought it? If they were, it is likely that the install disks are "OEM" or Original Equipment Manufacturer. This type of disk will only install on your computer.

If you bought the games at a retail store, you can then use the disks to install the programs on another computer. Pay attention to the licensing agreement. Many are licensed for only one system. If it is, you can uninstall it from the original computer, then install it on another system.

Some games are available for download. You might try a search to see if any of the games you want can be downloaded, then installed.

I hope this helps!

You were most helpful. You see I have the CD of those games at home, I am now on vacation here in Florida and a friend of mine played those games on my computer and wanted to have a copy to put in his computer. Since aI did not have the original here I thought I could go in to the files of the game in my C drive and burn it to a cd and then he could install it on his computer, but as I said before when we tried to do that a little box opened up and said we needed the original CD. Thanks anyway will have to wait till we get back home and get the orginal cd for him.

Sorry for the late response. I have Hoyle card games 4, an older version. I got mine from the public library. You may have your friend do a search in his local library database to see if they have it there. Of course always check for viruses when you bring it home. I really like this game, the facemaker is neat! Which game do you like best, mines the euchre one. I personally like playing with Gax and Roswell. How about you?

I have Hoyle 2003 and I enjoy the cribbage and spades. I play with Harley , Elayne and Chloe.

I will wait till I get home and make a copy of the original cd for my friend. Thanks for your suggestion though.
