Whenever I try to install The Sims Makin' Magic...it gives me an error thing. It says it performed an illegal operation and the details are this, don't know if it helps or not:
START caused an exception c0000006H in module START.EXE at 017f:00406c10.

i've tried everything, turning off my virus thing, restarting, shutting down and turning the computer back on, nothing will work. I was maybe thinking that it was because I have windows 98, but my other sims games work and everything. Help...I really wanna play this game and I don't know what to do.

Okay...well I got it installed...and now it just wont let me play it. I had to go the long way to install it...I couldn't just click on it and have it start installing, I had to open the file, and go to setup and install from there...now, no matter where I go to try to click to play it...it gives me the same error...I got it installed, so it shouldn't have a problem...why can't I play it???

Try this: Go to Windows Update and download/install the latest DirectX file.
When you've done that, click Start/Run and then type in: dxdiag and click OK.

In the DirectX diagnostic tool, say OK to allow the Internet Access. Then click each tab in turn. Does it show any problem files? If so, those are files that need updating or replacing.
If not, try turning down the acceleration on your sound. Does that help? If so, try updating your sound drivers.

I hope something here helps!
