I got the Sims 2 for Christmas...After installing it there was an error coming up saying that I needed the Directx 9.0
I went to the MSN website and downloaded DirectX - but my game still won't run. Help?

Did you install DirectX 9.0?


Does your computer meet the minimum requirements in order to play the game?

Is the video card compatible?

To run the DirectX Utility program:
Click Start
Click Run
Type: dxdiag
Click OK
OK the WHQL question if prompted
The utility is pretty straight forward. Check for any listed "problem" files. Repost if you need further help.

Often, the problem is with either the Video or the Audio. It sometimes helps to "turn down" the video and/or audio acceleration in the DirectX Utility program. If you find that cures the problem, then I would suggest you download/install driver for that device. You can usually find the drivers at the computer maker's site.
