Have you tried using the disc in another computer? If it doesn't play, you'll know the problem lies with the disc. Check to make sure that the disc isn't scratched. If it looks a bit weathered, a "Disc Doctor" device might be able to repair it. If the disc is brand new and does not play on any machine, then you should contact the manufacturer for a replacement. If the disc plays on another machine, but not yours, the problem may be more complex. Try holding down shift as the disc is inserted, and give the computer plenty of time to mount it. If that doesn't work, post a status report here for more troubleshooting. I hope this was helpful.

thanx j it will play on my other computers. ive tried turning off auto play and also opened the disk and tried to get it to work that way ive done everything the web site says but it just wont play. ive turned everything on in this computer and also turned everything off. killed off every program running deleeted everyprogram including the anti viurus. im at my wits end.the web site is not very helpful as ive contacted them and all they do is give me the stuff that ive already done from there web site. i was/am hoping that maybe some one here could get my brain to think about some other thing that i have not already tried. be sides getting anouther computer.this one is dang fast and im not giving up till i play that darn game on here.  it will get the first screen to open the one that says play/remove/install ect. but as soon as you hit play boom the little box comes on saying yellow ! please insert quake 4 cd 1(tm) and press ok. the yellow ! is what i have not figgered out yet. the web site say,s everything but the yellow ! mark which is in the box  im still working with them . trying to get an answer or at least past that darn box

it seems as though im getting old. i for got to update my vidio drivers and that was the problem. also my mother board was in need of chipset update as well. so thats why those grey hairs are on my head so i can forget things. note to self (self always update drivers after computer restore)
