Help!
Moved in last May and had 2 claims within first month; one for sewage/water damage and one from a vandal - also major water damage (long story and no conviction). One year later, can't get covered without paying over 3 times what the premium should be. Yes, pay for insurance but don't you dare need to use it! What crap! But what can I do?????????????????

I don’t know why they call it insurance. What it really is, is a payment deferment plan. Whither for car, home owners or renters insurance, when you make a claim, they will get their money back.

I have renters or homeowners insurance most of my independent life with one 2 clams. My rate did not go up as there was several years between them and the first claim was 10 years after the renters insurance was enforce.

I have my homeowners insurance and car insurance tired to the same company and I get a price break. I think I would shop around if I were you.

Some times it does not pay to make a clam that you could pay yourself. Save that insurance for the big claim. Having a bigger deductible can save you money in the long run.

Since 9/11, all insurance companies are having income problems. No matter what your company is, they are all tied to the same “Underwriter” base. No one insurance company can cover a loss like that so there is a pool of money they draw from. I may be using the wrong terms here. I am not in the insurance business.

Excellent post, Walks. Covers everything.

Yes, in a way, insurance just lets you spread the cost of mishaps over a few years, and even 'share the risk' with other people. But the price has to be paid.

I was lucky. Same thing happened, after two claims. I went from my regular insurer to my credit union and got a better deal. That was twenty-three years ago. No claims since. Great rates.

See, the Credit Union shops around among insurance providers, and gets you the best rate. Another good source is perhaps your automobile association. The provide such financial services. KLIK

Good luck!
