I don't know about you but I'm sick of getting unwanted catalogs day after day. I herd there is a catalog version of the do not call list. Has any one herd of these or is using one? I would like to stop them but I don't know how. Any tips?

Doug, you can get on catalog mailing lists from many different online and other sources...many companies are affiliated with others - heck, I get catalogs from companies I've never heard of on a regular basis.

Unless you're willing to mail (yes, snail mail with the address label) asking them to remove you from their mailing list, just ignore the catalogs as they come in and they'll eventually stop mailing them.

It would be nice to be able to save a tree (or three) by stopping them immediately, but most people don't have the time or energy for that. Oh, and beware, you'll eventually get the one that says "This is your last catalog unless you order!"...don't give in, just throw it away and hopefully you'll drop off their list.

If you ever order stuff online...be wary of their registration procedures. Most times you have to look hard for the box to check that will prevent their "affiliates" from contacting you.

I've never heard of a "do not mail" list for catalogs...if you're careful when registering at various places it shouldn't become an issue.

I agree its frustrating
You are getting the same as if you were being spammed online Mad

Solution Not as easy a clearing Spam up takes lonker Frown

First You want to register your address/Landline number with the Local equivalent of the UK Mailing preference service. Check this link out on how it works www.mpsonline.org.uk/ (Check with your local Better Business Bureaux office)

Warning Note: There are Many of these but some are disguised spammers !! Mad
Use only the BBB's recommendation OK?

Step 2 Get into the habit of inspecting those tick boxes asking about further offers ect
and resist the temptation unless it says tick for no offers
Provided you Trash all the unwanted catalogs and things will takes a few months to quieten down! Cannot give you a definate answer
If you are also being Hassled by Phone line pests ...My method is Be Polite Tell them It the 2nd time they have called today (LIE Big Grin) and can they delete your Name/file off their computer?
Has an additional benefit in that any leaflets coming from that source also dry up Cool
However they try it again ask for the Supervisor and Tell them the Same thing ( And remain polite) and Keep on going up the chain

Loosing your cool may get you Nowhere! OK? Roll Eyes

What do you think of this: Catalog Chocie

I saw it on the local news. I'm already on the do not call list. After I signed up, the next few months I noticed a big decrese in annoying phone calls.

Good decision

Take it one step further and You'll find most of The items can be Purchased directly off the Catalogs web sites without asking for the catalog ...They also do list any reductions there whereas on the Postal service you don't get much of a look in (almost out of stock) or Rubbish Frown

2 places on Google worth Looking at are Google Product wher you type in you want and it does turn up some real bargains If you think the Mail order catalog is cheap? Then look for the same Item on
Google Products
, and You can seriously undercut the original price Cool

But Google also has another trick up its sleeve.

You have disposed of all the Bumph But..What if you felt tempted to look at a catalog
Well Uncle Google has a Big box of Mail order Catalogs you can browse through(from all over the US) http://catalogs.google.com/
Some are out of date but you never know they may have it in stock if you phone up and ask?

Has the contact Phone Numbers on the Link Cool

Is NOT listed on the Google main index Pages
