The combination "ough" can be pronounced in nine different ways in English. Can you form a sentence with all of them?

I thought that the anconda sloughed off his skin near the slough, while under a bough of a huge tree, although he went through a coughing spell because of the dust (caused by the drought), and finally hiccoughed, and fell into one of the horse troughs. (Fortunately, not being in Ireland, he was not near a lough. Big Grin)

thought - thot
sloughed - sluffed
slough - slew
bough - wow
although - row (your boat)
cough - coff
drought - drowt
hiccoughed - hiccupped
troughs - trovs

Very good Dg, Big Grin here's another sentence.
"A rough-coated, dough-faced, thoughtful ploughman strode through the streets of Scarborough; after falling into a slough, he coughed and hiccoughed." Smile

Is Scarborough in Ireland? If it is, he could have fallen into a lough, too.

And don't forget "hough" in UK English, an alternative spelling of "hock (as in that bit of a horse's hind-leg).
