The first book in this series of children's fiction turns 75 years old this month.

The series, as a whole, has sold over 41 million copies in the US alone, and has been translated into over 40 languages.

What is the name of the series of books, and who wrote it?

Okay, something first published 1932...my first thought was either The Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew books, but they first appeared in 1927 and 1930, respectively. Pippi Longstocking didn't show up until 1945. I'm not up on classic children's fiction, even in just the US. Frown

Raggedy Ann is about that old. The doll was introduced first, then the book series.

"Little House in the Big Woods" by Laura Ingalls Wilder was published in April 1932.
But it was the 3rd book that gave the series the title most people know.'The Little House on the Prairie'
I don't believe the books were popular here in the UK,but the TV programme certainly was.

Naturally I turned to Wikipedia first. SR's source being the same as mine, doesn't it clearly state 1930 as the first publication date for Nancy Drew? Didn't the series thus turn 75 years old two years ago? Confused
