Ok. Let's see here. 1952 mad came out as a comic for ten cents. then in July of 1955 issure 24 came out, and cost 25cents and mad became a magazine then.
Publisher was Bill Gaines
Alfred E. Neuman full name.

Wasn't Mad Magazine founded as some sort of response to National Lampoon? And it seems to me that there was more than a little animosity between the two.

You're correct about there being a bit of animosity between the two, however, National Lampoon was influenced by Mad. The first issue was published in 1970.
