I want to transfer my pygmypress.com domain from gate.com to hostmonster.com. But I can't make sense out of the instructions. I think my "registrar" is melbourne IT but not sure. What is a registrar, anyway? How does it differ from a host? Is gate a registrar?

Can someone explain this process to me? I have numbers and codes, etc., but have no idea what to do with them.

All help appreciated.

It doesn't help that I've forgotten my log-in info for melbourne, and I have to log in to contact them!

I found this information using the Google search, in order to locate the whois search service. The "whois" search service (internic, in this case) tells us if a domain name is in use, and if so, specific information about the site and the site owner.

Thank you, Dwight! Using the info Mozart posted, I was able to confirm that Melbourne is indeed my registrar. I have written them for the authentication code but they have not answered so far. gate.com is apparently my "reseller."

Whew! The way these titles are bandied about on the Net makes it confusing!
