If you have played with the
Clusty Cluster search engine from Vivisimo there is a 2nd Cluster engine that must be given Serious attention ,and its been around for several years, yet has not shown up on the radar because of the Name Placement on the Search engines? Today I want to introduce you to
Carrot2 which is an Open Source search engine It can run as a stand alone or as a Plug-in Download on your browser.
It is up to version 3.0 and is NOT a Beta
http://search.carrot2.org/stable/search ( For the search page)
http://project.carrot2.org/ (This is the Home page)
I had a quick test on it and apart from some minor niggles such as Keywords You cannot use more than 2 per search!

And the Plug-in area being useless (No support or people not developing gadgets for this application?)

It does produce Lots of hits. Query reply speed is quite good
Page layout is easy to navigate
To get at the "clustering" feature click the small "Virtualization" tab (which is in the left frame)
And to really open it up, click the
"+" in the search Circle and the black dots indicate where it is Indexed on the search (Can extend this to 200 "dots")
NOTE It is a Flash application
PS I see it says you can download your search results to the Desktop .How?
I think the Novices will like this so long as they don't stretch the Keyword search.
PS I pulled up some AP forum Posts and if there are Image URLs in the topic. They Show up without clicking (in the right hand frame)

(The Originals had all "closed" links)
