Thanks so much! I'm glad I decided to browse some of the older threads. I've been looking for something to replace AdShield (which won't work on IE 6.0) and this is perfect...sounds much better, too.

Can you help me? I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to configure it. I started a new proxy but don't know how to get the ads in there. Clicking and dragging doesn't work; am I supposed to view source, then copy/paste it?
Thanks, here's a present for you. LOL

All would include Answerpool! So how do U post then if U block all POP-UPS? The window U see when U hit reply is a POP-UP! So U won't be able to post here then! And if U goto http:/www.pricewatch.com and click on a catagorie! Then click on the the item and a list appears telling exactly where U can get the best deal! If U click on the name on the very top a small bar appears and a red link says web site! If U click on that it'll take U to the site! But it is a POP-UP! and of course typing it in is teadius! So U have to allow that site in too! So obviously U need an allow list!

I just push control to allow the reply window here or other things as needed. That seems easier than typing in an ever changing list of allows and trying to delete no longer needed ones. Thanks for the explaination that they are poups though. Now what is a proxy in this usage?

I didn't know about the (Ctrl) think! Tnks! Works with my thing too! I gues everybody has room for learning! Even advanced people like me! As for the proxy I'm not the proxy expert! Like I said room for learning! Maybe somebody else is here and can explain it better!

I did read the configuration page but am not sure how to enter the information. I'm thinking it means for me to identify each ad's address/description (I'm assuming this means to right click on it, select Properties then copy/paste the information into the AdCruncher window?) and enter it.
It seems rather labor intensive, unless I'm not understanding the instructions. I decided to go looking for the program I'd used previously; AdShield. It integrates directly into your browser. All that's required is to right click on the banner ad, choose "Add to block list" (near the bottom of the menu) and the ad is removed. Found the upgrade which works with WinXP and IE6...turns all those banner ads into the little white boxes with red X's.
One note: It won't work at AP since the right click capability is disabled.
I use CookieWall to control cookies and POW! to control pop-ups/unders. Both of these are freeware and I've been happy with them since I started using them over a year ago.
If AdCruncher is a better program, I'd like to use it...if I can figure out how to configure it.

Ad Shield is for POP-UPS! Not banner adds! Try Guide Scope! Alos uses a proxy but much easier! No descriptions to add! Blocks all adds! I mean there's too many random adds! U block 5 and five more will show up that are not descripted! That way U'll never catch them all! Guide Scope just blocks them all regardless! I'v done it on My XP-PRO!
And the EMS thing is great on POP-UPS! Better than Ad Shield and free! Or the new Netscape 7.1 now comes with POP-UP Blocker built-in!
The above mentioned are form the third reply on thread!

I beg to differ. AdShield IS for banner ads; mine disappear, permanently, every time I add one to the AdShield block list. It may, also, be for pop-ups, however that's what I use POW! for and there doesn't seem to be any interference.

Perhaps, for some; not for me. I prefer to have complete control over cookies, pop-ups/unders and banner ads. I am blessed with infinite patience and don't mind adding them one at a time (AdCruncher notwithstanding and I know how to do it). There are some banner ads and pop-ups/unders that I don't mind seeing; these programs allow me complete freedom of choice of blocking/unblocking at any time.
Other programs may be just as good, or better, than the ones I'm using, but I'm quite pleased with the ones I have...so far. I always look at other choices, as they are offered, and implement or discard based on my personal preferences.
I appreciate all the new information you provide and check out each one...I just don't always choose them over what I already use.
Keep up the good work, ivnj. Thanks
