I am wanting to build a website for a rather large family with several branches. It will include roughly 3000 photographs, and roughly 800 pages of text that will contain family linage information and stories. I will need it to include a guest book, and about 3 or 4 different discussion forums. What is the best server I can use that will be reasonably priced, that also has easy web building tools?

There's a lot of them out there. Hosts are starting to offer more and more storage space and features because there's so much competition out there.

I use ipowerweb.com. For $7 a month they give me more stuff than I'll ever use, but they have a bit of a problem with features that they offer being a bit buggy.

Someone introduced me to a host called inmotionhosting.com. It appears to be comparable in price and has better authoring tools than iPowerweb.

Basically, if you want webspace where you can install any of the popular freeware scripts like PHPBB message board software and a good photo gallery you need is a server that will give you a MySql database, support for PHP, and FTP access for a price under $10 per month. Everything else is junk.

A genealogy site wouldn't use much bandwidth. I was storing MP3 songs on IPowerWeb and streaming them right off the server and it still didn't exceed my allocated bandwidth.
