It is possible that your Web browser has been "hijacked" by some type of spyware.
This page will scan your system and notify you if any of the more common parasites have hijacked your system. It will also offer removal instructions, should a problem be found.
If you will provide the Web address of the page that you're trying to open, we can look to see if that site requires any special software to run correctly. I would guess that this isn't the problem, since you do eventually get on the site, but it is a possibility.
The next time the site you want opens for you (and assuming the first link didn't find and fix the problem) please give this a try:
1) When the page opens, click the File Menu. If you don't see a File Menu, right click on any blank area of the Toolbar area and choose "menubar". That will make it visible.
2) Click the File menu/Send/Shortcut to Desktop.
3) This will place a shortcut on your Desktop directly to the page that you're trying to open. Once this is done, close the page and then try to open the page from the new Desktop shortcut. If that doesn't work, please let us know.
See this picture If the picture is too small to read, right-click on the image file (named 2004666059559950523_rs.jpg) and Click "Save Picture As". Save it to your Desktop and then open it. It should be large enough to read easily once saved.
I hope something here will help!
