My son has downloaded something called "Mooner",which is this horrible boy that keeps popping up onto the screen and dropping his pants! I can't get rid of him and it's driving me crazy.Everytime I try to delete the file it comes up with "cannot delete mooner, the specified file is being used by windows".
Please help,
Viv.

Good morning, Viv. To disable Mooner, click Start, Run, type <drive><path>Mooner remove and press Enter (drive and path specify the location of the file). You can then delete the program if you wish.

Hi Tom,i've just tried to do this but when I press enter I get the message
"cannot find the file Mooner remove (or one of it's components).Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available"
I'm probably doing something wrong, this is driving me nuts,as i'm typing the damn thing just keeps popping up and getting in the way!

Where exactly is the file located? For instance, a file on the Windows 98 or ME Desktop would have the path C:\Windows\Desktop.

Viv...look in the control panel and find "add/remove programs". Then double click on it and a box should open with a list of all applications you have on the computer. Scroll down until you find the program, hilight it, then click on the add/delete button. OR, click on the start button on the bottom of your screen where your task bar is. Scroll to where Programs are, then look for a program file folder named Mooner or something similiar. It might have an uninstall feature in there. Let me know if you need more help!

Okay, the Mooner.exe file is the "Things I don't know what to do with" folder. If so, the command line should be

"C:\Windows\Desktop\Thing's I don't know what to do with\mooner remove"

For this to work, you must include the quotes around the line. If this doesn't work, try substituting mooner /remove.

Another tactic you can use is to press Control-Alt-Delete to bring up the Close Program menu. Click the Mooner entry and click End Task.

If mooner continues to run, wait. Within about 20 seconds you'll see a "This program is not responding" prompt. Click End Task.

You should be able to delete the program at this point.

THANK YOU,THANK YOU,THANK YOU!
All your help was most appreciated, both Tom and Georgia. What finally worked was the control/alt/delete thing.
