I've operating a cyber cafe for about a week now today while on the phone I hear some weird dialtones... I've adsl and alarm sharing the same line. I'm wondering if it wasnt the alarm then if it is possible someone to download a weird dialer program that tries to dial international numbers for god knows what!! What should I do?
thanks

I suggest you contact your local telephone company and ask them for help and advice. With this new service there may be something that is interfering with the phone connection.

Here are some things you should do to diagnose the problem. Pause between each of the steps, to check to make sure the problem has stopped. If the problems goes away the problem is solved and you don't need to do anything else.
1. If you have a phone line connected to a dialup modem in your pc, unplug it (you have dsl!) This will prevent dialer programs from dialing your phone.
2. Check your dsl filters, there should be one for every phone jack. If you don't have enough, call your isp and they will give you more.
3. Call your telco and ask them about the alarm system, sometimes alarm systems interfere with dsl connections
4. Call your tellco and ask for a line trace, this may find problems in your phone wire and help root out the possiblity of someone bugging you.

Ok thanks. I think it may have been the alarm system because later on I noticed several error messages on the system's screen I called the compan, they have reset it, and I haven't had problems since.
Thanks again
