I downloaded Firefox 1.0 browser (without any of the bells and whistles). I can sign into message boards, but I can't sign into secure sites like Hotmail or Amazon. I just get the same error message:

>>Error response

>>Error code 500.

>>Message: Internal Server Error.<<

I posted about this on the Mozilla forums a while back, but I got no response. Others have told me that they don't have this problem with Firefox and I should uninstall-reinstall. That didn't help.

Any suggestions?

Many sites (like Hotmail) require that cookies be accepted and will not work unless the "privacy" settings are set to allow them. Are you set to allow cookies in your FireFox browser?

Do you have FireFox version 1.0.2 installed? I just tried the 2 site quoted and was able to get on them with FireFox. If you don't, here is the LINK to download the newest version. You may also require the installation of the various plug-ins.
FLASH
JAVA
SHOCKWAVE

Good Luck

I posted a fix for a secure site issue similar to this recently
Visit and download the tiny program on this site and see if it makes any difference?
Only a DOS program (choice of 2 different versions) 1 for Win 2000 & XP, the other for 98 & ME.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that part. I have (and have had) the default items checked: "Allow sites to set cookies" and "for the originating web site only."

No, actually I only had 1.0.0. But installing 1.0.2 hasn't made any difference, I'm afraid.

Thanks for the links for plug-ins.

Thanks. I ran it (though, despite being the XP version, the first line of text was "2000, me" or something). So far the situation hasn't changed. I'll have to restart my computer when I finish some other things and see if it makes a difference.

Try to log into sites like MSN ,Gmail (if you have an account)? Also Microsoft updates and see if you can run a scan If it produces an error message here then run that program again Wink
These sites all use the security padlock and the Https:// URL header instead of Http://

After getting the most recent Firefox version and running that fix program twice, Amazon still gives me the same "Error Response" for no cookies, but Hotmail doesn't give me that any longer. Now the sign-in page won't even load; it just stays white and either continues "loading" or incorrectly says "Done" in the status bar.
