Can you get into that drive by moving your Mouse pointer over the My Computer Icon on the Start menu? (and a Menu appears to the side?) If that is so we know the access is not compromised ...

And Did you Know that the link can be displayed on the Start menu simply by Dragging and dropping the Link from that location on to the Start button or menu and It appears as a Menu Item on the Top of the List Smile

See if you see the drive by pressing the Windows key and E key at the same time. Expand the "My Computer" folder to see if the drive is visible.

The windows key is usually located between the Ctrl key and the Alt key. See this page: keyboard.

Thanks for your reply, but the drive's accesss is not compromised, i can view it from the start menu, if the my computer is a link and i can view it and its contents from the my computer window....but the main issue is that the icon is not the default icon that looks like a hard disk, on the contrary,,,,its as i said in my first post, as having a file with a weird extension that u don't have the right application for( this is the same icon that's displaying on my LOCAL DISK (D).....
thanks for your concern, and hope this time im clearer than the first time.

best regards,

I found several different methods. One is described here:
PC Magazine

I think this might be the easiest way to do this. The icon list (on my system) at at: C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll

In this picture, the hard drive icon is highlighted.

I hope this helps!
