How/why do some web sites apparently disable IE's 'back' button? Is there any way to stop this from happening?

kendor,
As far as I know, there isn't anything that can be done with those pages. One trick I've tried is to double or triple click the back button quickly when that happens, and sometimes it will go back to the page you wanted or before it so you can click the Forward button, but most of the time it just stays on that same page.

Broken back buttons are usually caused by javascript redirects or sites using AJAX to deliver content. It is often done intentionally by web developers, as clicking 'Back' may cause their site to behave strangely.

There isn't a way to prevent it from happening from client side. Best to just open pages in new tabs (IE7) or windows when visiting such sites.

I agree with it. especially is AJAX. Useing the AJAX is more convenient that it can update one small place from this page.
