We are in our little identification "pods". In these pods, our lives are governed through information such as past records, credit reports, financial dealings, etc. while the pod's occupants (individuals) feed the big machine(government/commerce) that keeps providing it with more power and more information to further exploit us to it's own end.
Hell of a way to end up- the human race keeps going...and going...and going...

There are two ways to react to this. Either try to protect your privacy, or else swamp the system with so much useless, banal and irrelevant information that nobody can possibly monitor it all and make any use of it.
If we take surveillance techniques to their logical extreme we will end up with three quarters of the population working full time to monitor the other quarter - and who monitors them? Quis custodet ipsos custodes?
'They' are not going to bother unless they are after you for a reason, even if you don't think it's a good reason. Already police spend hours scanning security camera footage for clues to specific crimes. Where do the man-hours come from to do this just to suppress personal freedoms?
