There are a variety of different types of chat rooms, so it is difficult to say exactly why you could not join the room.

Keep in mind, the malfunction could at the site itself and if that is the case, you cannot do anything about it at your end.

Did you see any error messages? If so, do you remember what it said? If not, you can try to open it again and see if works now.

Have you tried this one?

I went on "Go", "Clarebears Chat" and got the message "You have not been given the permission(s) to access this page. You require the following rights to view this page: 'View Chat Room Content (Generally)'. For a full list of permissions you have on this community, please visit your Personal Zone Permissions page.". I then went in the "Personal Zone" "Permissions" "Permission Browser" "Chat" "Chat Room Specifis" and there was a tick against "View chat (This Room)" and ons against "Post Chat (This Room)". That is why I thought I could enter that chat room.

I didn't even know there was a link to the chatroom on here.

Click on the link Dwight posted above and that will get you there. Smile

Let me be sure that I'm understanding you...

1. You clicked the chat link above and the chat opening page opened.
2. You clicked on "register a new name" and the registration page opened.
3. You filled in the form and then clicked "Register and login" and the page opened to the message "You have not been given the permission(s)messages" you noted above.
Is this the sequence that you followed?

Are you using Windows XP operating system, with Windows Internet Explorer version 7 installed?

Have you updated your Windows XP to Service Pack 3?

If you need help with finding this information, please see this page. Please post again with the requested information.

I know what Bluescottie is saying. At the top of each AnswerPool page is the words:

When you click on GO, the third option is chatroom. That sends you to clarebear's chat.

When you click on clarebear's chat, you get the message:

Error
You have not been given the permission(s) to access this page. You require the following rights to view this page: 'View Chat Room Content (Generally)'. For a full list of permissions you have on this community, please visit your Personal Zone Permissions page.

I get that error too. Dorian just needs to fix the link in there.

Actually, that link is to a Chat within the groupee/eve system. I tried it quite a while ago (when Clare was looking around for another Chat room) to see if it was acceptable. It wasn't. It's not nearly as good as what Clare has now. I never realized that it still had a link to it. If I can make that link go to Clare's room, I will. If not, I will try to remove it.

Just my two cents worth, but would it be possible to have a permanent link to Clare's chat within AP, say in the EODB or Members' Open Forum?
The link could always be at the top of a "Chat" thread, but we could add posts under it to say we are going into chat.
I'd like it if people from other countries, especially the UK, would come and talk to us in chat sometimes.Smile

Thinking about my idea, any link would have to be in the Members Open Forum, to include someone like the original poster here, who can't see the EODB.

I didn't know it was there. All the chat I knew of was at Discussionpool.

Anyway, I haven't been formally introduced. Is there a dress code ? (The last invitation I had read 'dress: glamorous', so I had to spend hours sticking diamante on my dungarees. I don't want to go through that again)

Come to Chat! I have wine and cheese!

No dress code, Fred; wear any dress you want, even a simple frock.

Fred, if you are brave enough to go in, so will I. Otherwise I'm not sure. DG has some bad habits!

I didn't know the chat link was here either.

Dorian, if you do leave the chat link, you should just call it AnswerPool chat and not clarebear's chat. Smile

It's gone. One of the reasons I didn't like it was that you couldn't tell who was in before you entered. You had to enter to see if anyone was in there.

Sorry that I forgot about it.
