check out this link to one of my favorite sites,
it should help you out a little:
http://www.howstuffworks.com/first-time.htm?referer=question222.htm

p.s., i have created my own websites using code and programs, so if you have any questions,
feel free to email me (check my profile for address)

another helpfull hint when creating sites is that you can view the source code for any site by clicking on
view
then Source,
in your browser, so if you like anything particular on any site, you can copy the code and transplant it to yours.

hope this helps
