Recently I visited the BMG.com music site without opting to go for their "12-for-1" CD offer. I was just browsing. Within a couple days I received in the postal mail an ostensibly free CD from them. What bothers me is that they somehow managed to get my name and address in order to mail me the package. How did they get my name and address??? thanks

I would be willing to bet good money that, unless you actually entered your address in, it's just a coincidence that the two happened so close in time to each other. BMG sends out bulk mail and has for a long time. If it only took a couple of days, the mail was probably sent before you even visited the site.
Methos is probably correct. However if you have your address publicly posted on a website anywhere a 'search spider' could 'harvest' it. That is why we do not allow email addresses posted anywhere other than your AnswerPool.com member profile, which can only be seen by members and none of our members are search spider robots.
