On my computer, I can drag the answerpool reply box around on the screen. If I try this on the computers where I work, internet explorer crashes. The computers are running XP professional with IE 6. Anybody else have this problem? Any fix other than trying to curb my impulse to move the window?

Thanks, good to know it's not just me at least. I try not to move the box, but since i can on my own computer (running IE 5), it's become a habit, and it's hard to break.

Works fine on my 98SE and XP-PRO both with IE-6! The only time it ever crashed was when it was improperly dragged!

Don't drag it by the IE symbol! It creates a Shortcut to that window and sometimes depending on where dragged it can crash! Don't remember where but just be careful!

Instead pick it up by the blanck blue space inbetween the last word of the TITLE and the MINIMIZE button!

thanks ivnj, but we're talking about the quick reply (I didn't make that clear in my original post), which doesn't have an IE symbol or a minimize button.

Well, I can move both the quick reply and normal reply boxes without trouble - XP Home and IE6 - by picking them up on a blank space in the header box. Didn't know you could do this. You've started me on a bad habit!

The first time I tried moving the Quick Reply window, IE crashed. I allowed an error report to be sent to Microsoft.
Then, after restarting IE, I again tried to move the Quick Reply window and it is moving with no problems.

I put my cursor in the title bar, pressed and held the left mouse button, to move it. I'm using Windows 98 with IE 6.0 SP1.

Right after posting the above, I tried to move the Quick Reply window again. Three times in a row, it again crashed IE. Then, when the Quick Reply window first opened, I used the Windows menu key to open a menu, then dragged the window. For some reason, the window didn't seem to crash, if you first open a context sensitive menu, then drag the window about.

Odd quirk, that...and after posting the above and again trying the same procedure, IE crashed again. Weird...

Even more quirks...After doing the above, I closed then reopened IE to AnswerPool.com. IE crashed. I reopened IE at Answerpool.com and it ran fine. Each time I would open IE, it would first crash, then run fine when opened again.

I ran the Microsoft Internet Explorer Repair Tool, and the problem with crashing at the first start was resolved. But I cannot drag the Quick Reply box now without IE crashing again.

One thing I did note. When I place my cursor in the title bar (of the Quick Reply window), I see a "hand" icon (link select). The link is back to original question page.

I figured it out! Open a new QRW! Right Click on the (X) that would normally close the window! Say OK to the dissable warning! And the (X) gets indented allowing U to move the window anywhere! Then Left Click once to let go and start typing!

The quick reply works ok in Mozilla/Netscape/Firebird, Opera does it better though.

Methos, it is quite a bummer that they will not allow you to install a better browser for them. You could use this excuse "I consider Opera instrumental to my scientific advancement because it is safer, smarter and more usable than Internet Explorer for browsing the internet." Wink
