I'm just beginning to learn HTML but I've encountered what seems to be a serious problem and could use some help.
I'm unable to get my browser to convert any background or text color tags> have Win XP and Internet Browser. However, what is strange is that the same txt works on my older puter with Windows 95 with an older Int Explorer.. Ive looked at other links which have tutorials on the subject with test examples and they only result in black and white also! Does anyyone have any ideas about what can be wrong?

This question would probably get a better response if it were posted in the Internet forum. If you like, I could move it there for you.

Can you provide a screen shot of what you're asking about? I'm not really sure what it is that you're looking for. You can upload images to http://allyoucanupload.webshots.com/ and then put in a link to your image.

Are you writing this in an HTML writer (like Dream Weaver or Front Page for example)? If so, can you identify the program that you're using?

Are you writing the code in notepad? If so, what codes are you typing in?

This page has some simple examples: HTML codes

This page is actually written for children, but I have found it very useful at times: http://www.lissaexplains.com/basics.shtml

I hope something here will be of some help.

Thanks Dwight for your reply.
I know that my problem is NOT with the code itself. The code works well in my older computer.I cannot get ANY code to display colors! Even code that is used as examples in on-line tutorials fails. I use both Word Pad and text pad for the text. I have even used a WYSIWYG editor. Nothing works.
You said it would be god to post this on the Internet forum and that you could move it there. I would appreciate your doing so.
thanks again,

For some reason I cannot get the message / move controls to work for me this morning. I have requested that Karrow (Site Administrator) move this thread to the Internet forum.

Perhaps over there, you will see more responses. I'm still not clear on what you're unable to see in your browser.

I understand that you're not seeing the text color tags / background tags (they're not working).

You didn't say how you are writing this; with a HTML editor (and if so, which one?) or in straight code.

Also, have you looked at the results in a different WinXP computer? Can you provide a hyperlink to a sample page where we can open it? This to verify if the problem is with your color display on your computer or with your browser. I understand that you're using the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. Have you tried other Web browsers?
