In search engines like google, when I type something in the search box, below where I'm typing appears a drop down menu with past searchs that match alphabetically to what I'm typing. This is much like the address bar in IE except you can't tab down to an item if it's what you're looking for. The only question I really have about it is how do I delete the list and/or how can I disable this feature.

Is it my local machine (XP) or is it my IE, or is it an actual google feature? (Ok, 2 questions).

It is not the Google website but IE that uses the "auto complete" feature when you type a URL in the address bar or keywords in a search form. You should find an option to disable this in the Tools menu. First, go ahead and Clear History and Delete all Temporary Internet Files. Then, click on the advanced tab and disable auto complete.

This may surprise you...
There are 2 Beta Google tools which both save any search done on Google and Suggest a search pattern. Check out and save these pages as bookmarks Google Suggest http://desktop.google.com/
Combined they make searching both on your files on your computer(and on Google) very fast to find Cool
Google Desktop searches through places like Temp files History Files ect makes its own cache up. A bit buggy but doesn't affect the searching Smile
Have to register with Google accounts to use this or have a Gmail address?
The Google Suggest Page is not subject to registration, but there are lots of new things coming up on Google. They are asking that you keep this account key open, and it automatically adds any new program into your portfolio with out prompting for a signup in future Wink
