Whenever I try to access the Food network using Internet Explorer, the page will not load. I get the "unable to display page" window. In the past the site would load, but not completely load. I was always able to resolve the problem by clearing history, files, and cookies. After I was able to access Food TV with both AOL and IE. I came across a previous discussion on your site and tried most of the options suggested and yesterday I was able to access food network with AOL and IE. Last night, I was able to access food tv through AOL although the page did not completely load. However I was able to navigate the site with no problems. When I tried to access with IE, the page would not open at all. Even if I use the alternate foodnetwork.com, I am not able to access the site. Also, when I try to access the site from IE Zone Alarm firewall is displaying an alert "Internet Explorer wants to accept connections from the interenet". Then, I get the "cannot display page window."
I suppose I am happy that I can access the site through AOL, but this is driving me crazy because I should be able to access the site with IE like I have always done. I have tried everything that I know in order to resolve this issue.
We recently had another person with this problem. It took a number of diagnostic steps to determine why her browser would not open that page, but eventually the problem was found and corrected. Here is a link to that thread. Please look through the posts and see if you can find a "fix" for your system.
It is likely that you will not have the same system setup, so please note the differences and if necessary post again with any additional information or symptoms that you see which differ from this member.
Please delete your Temporary Internet Files and cookies and try it again.
Does your AOL browser have a Temporary Internet Files/cookie delete option? If so, I suggest you try deleting those, too.
Thank you so much for your quick reply. I read the posts again and tried all of the suggestions with no luck. Finally, I disconnected my router, and this morning I was able to connect to Food Network using Internet Explorer and AOL.
I will try reconnecting the router later and see what happens.
That is interesting about the router disconnect making a difference. A router will function as a hardware firewall, but it only blocks incoming data, not outgoing.
I wonder if there was some kind of "ad-ware" placed on your system from the Food Network? I have accessed the Food Network site many times, but I use a software Firewall that is set to block all incoming and outgoing data unless authorized. It does the blocking silently, so I'm not bothered with so many "pop-ups" telling me the software has accomplished its mission.
Is you browser set to accept cookies? If not, you might try to enable cookies on the Food Network site (with the router connected) and see if that makes a difference.

I hooked up the router and all is fine. I can access food network using IE and AOL. When I first disconnected the router, I was not able to connect to the website. It was later on that I tried, and there was food network again. I agree, I do not think it had anything to do with the router. It was not the firewall because I disabled it and still was not able to access the site.
I have no idea what the problem was. Maybe you are right about the ad-ware. I thought at one point that I was being blocked from the site--I had no problems accessing other sites. I will keep an eye on this because I have had problems with the site in the past. Thank you for your replies Anne
