I few weeks ago I installed the Symantec Updates after being notified by a flashing icon. After I rebooted, I couldn't access IE or email. I had to use Gateway GoBack to return the drive to the point before I installed the updates. This week I was looking for some other info and found a site that said users had had problems after a similar update. Well, I foolishly thought that Symantec might have fixed it...but no, after I tried the update again, I had to do the GoBack again to get to the point just before I installed the updates.
There is info on their website about a change on 7-8 Jan that causes computer slowdown, but I don't think that's the same thing that's happening to me. I'm sure I need those updates, but not if this keeps happening.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Do you have Symantec AntiSpam installed because I have had a simular problem and found that it appears related to that. I have e mailed them many times but they will not answer my direct question about the update which I believe started the problem.........hhmmmmm.

Symantic is one of the worst web vendors, in my opinion, when it comes to customer care. I would have gone for Mcafee this year but for their cost. (penny wise, poundkey foolish)
After rigorous effort however, I came up with this phone number for Symantic CS:
1 (800) 927-4012
Give it a shot.
On the other hand, you may be able to go into your Symantic program preferences and disable the anti-spam feature altogether. Frankly, after Hotmail's upgrades, I would recommend them highly in terms of the amount of spam they allow through.
PS, which Norton edition has caused you this problem; I'd like to know if I can maybe expect the same difficulty with the 2004 Internet Security package which I am shortly going to install.

I don't have anti-spam...unless that's one of the product updates they installed...if so, I've un-installed it now. So, I'll wait to see what kind of answer I get now, if any.

I have NAV 2003 for windows 98. As far as I know, I don't have any anti-spam device installed. Cox is a great high-speed internet service but they aren't offering anything about anti-spam yet. Norton is doing a good job on the anti-virus side, though. They've caught and deleted about a half-dozen messages with that latest worm...doom something? Now I'll wait to see what Symantec says on my latest HELP message.
