I've never had an interest in streaming video/audio...until now. A Web site is featuring a short video clip taken from a TV show that mentions me, and I'd like to know if there is some way to save it on my computer.

The clip has the file extension ".rm" which I've learned means it's streaming video. I have saved it on my computer, but I have to be connected to the Internet to play it on RealPlayer...so I guess only the link is on my computer...the clip is being played from the site?

Is there a way to save a streaming video clip permanently to my computer's hard drive? Thank you!

You might try right clicking the link on the site to the clip and then 'save as' from the choices available. A download window should open and it will let you save the file to whatever folder you want. This works for whatever video files I download. I hope it works for you.

I had originally tried to save the clip by clicking "save" in the "My Playlists" section of AOL's Media Player, but as I said, only the link seemed to be saved.

Following your advice, I right-clicked the link, clicked "Save Target" and saved to a folder on my hard drive. The clip now is not only saved to my computer, but plays perfectly, without any pauses for buffering.
